James Dennis Young, an attorney with James, Smith, Dietterick & Connelly, LLP is a member of the firm's litigation group, with an emphasis on labor and employment, civil rights and appellate advocacy. Mr. Young has extensive trial experience in the Federal District Courts and appellate work at the Third Circuit and Pennsylvania Appellate Courts. He maintained an active insurance defense practice in the areas of civil rights, litigation, employment law, municipal, liability, worker's compensation, professional liability, premises and general liability for more than twenty years. Before entering private practice, Jim served as a law clerk to the Honorable John C. Dowling, Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Young is a graduate of The Dickinson School of Law where he was awarded the Order of the Barrister for outstanding achievement in advocacy. Jim graduated from Northwestern University with departmental honors in history. In addition to his work at JSDC, he is Chairman of the Parish Advisory Counsel at Seven Sorrows BVM Church and has obtained the Fourth Degree with the Knights of Columbus. Jim enjoys coaching youth baseball and CYO basketball. He is married with two children.
